What is Mercedes-Benz DISTRONIC PLUS®?

distronic plus

The DISTRONIC PLUS® active cruise control system helps maintain an even distance behind traffic that’s ahead of you. This exciting technology uses radar to monitor the gap between your Mercedes-Benz vehicle and the vehicle that’s in front of you, allowing you to move with the flow of traffic better than a standard single-speed cruise control system. DISTRONIC® is found in most new Mercedes-Benz models like the Mercedes-Benz CLA 250 and the Mercedes-Benz GLA SUV. Get all the details about DISTRONIC PLUS® from the experts at RBM of Alpharetta.

How to Use DISTRONIC PLUS®

If your car is equipped with this advanced technology system, follow the steps below to operate it:

  • Just like a normal cruise control system, the DISTRONIC PLUS® controls are on a lever that’s attached to your steering column.
  • Update your cruising speed by moving the lever up (to speed up) or down (to slow down) to change your speed by one mile per hour.
  • If you press the lever hard, it changes the speed by five miles per hour.
  • To cancel your cruise control setting, push the lever away from you or press the brakes.
  • Resume the last set speed by simply pulling the lever toward you.
  • A knob on the end of the lever adjusts the following distance behind the vehicle ahead of you. You will see the distance on the central screen.
  • If the traffic ahead stops, the DISTRONIC PLUS® system will also safely bring your car to a stop. If this lasts longer than three seconds, you can resume driving by tapping the gas or pulling the lever toward you.

Keep in mind that the DISTRONIC PLUS® is meant for highway driving, and the driver should always be aware of their surroundings. For additional information, consult your vehicle’s owner’s manual or get in touch with our Atlanta-area service center at RBM of Alpharetta.

What is DISTRONIC PLUS® with Steering Assist?

The DISTRONIC® Steering Assist feature works to keep your vehicle in its lane. It monitors the surrounding cars and lane markers and makes any steering adjustments to compensate for curves in the road. It also monitors traffic in your left lane to prevent any vehicles from moving to the right. DISTRONIC PLUS® Steering Assist also monitors to ensure that your hands remain on the steering wheel, an additional level of convenience and safety that provides added peace of mind while you’re out on the roads in Cumming.
